Luxembourg electricity grid has a redundant connection to its neighboring countries. Luxembourg only produces electrical energy for auxiliary use. The bulk of the energy is bought on the European Energy Exchange. This provides companies based in Luxembourg with a great choice and large freedom regarding the type and origin of energy they want to consume. It also results in very competitive pricing, as electrical energy prices for data centers are generally cheaper in Luxembourg than in London, Amsterdam or Frankfurt.
Some of Luxembourg’s data centers have opted for metered PUE, whereas others are offering very low PUE estimations. The most recent data centers are targeting a PUE as low as 1.35.
Luxembourg is also fully signed up to the “green” philosophy, with several of its data centers being powered by a 100% green energy supply and some companies considering data centers as ecosystems.
